What will you do with this gift

Please take a moment of your time to read this short story. It tells of the biggest and most important gift ever given; and it can be yours with just one condition. YOU MUST ACCEPT IT.

Nearly two thousand years ago three men were condemned to die a most horrible death. Three crosses were erected side by side and the three men were nailed, one to each cross.

Two of these men were thieves, condemned to the death of the cross for breaking the laws of that land. And although by our standards, this punishment was cruel, according to Roman Law, it was just and proper.

The man that I am concerned with was the one in the middle of the two thieves. Unlike the other two, He was being unjustly punished, for He had never in His life time broken any of the laws.

However there was a purpose in His death. He died, not having committed any sin of His own, but He took upon Himself the sins of the whole world. On the third day He rose from the dead and sat down with God, where He now intercedes for all that accept Him.

The man on the middle cross was JESUS CHRIST, GOD’S ONLY SON. The purpose for His coming and His death can be summed up with the Scripture in the Bible found in Romans 3:23 and John 3:16. The people of the world were cut off from God because of sin. Romans 3:23″For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God!” Jesus Christ, by taking upon Himself our sins and our iniquity, provided a way for you and me to escape punishment and to be reconciled back to God.” John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, (we are in the world so that includes you and I), that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Thus, God provided a way for us to receive His gift of love. Also, Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” The gift that I have been talking about is eternal life with Jesus Christ. How can you receive this gift and know that you have it? God says in Romans 10:9 & 10 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him, (Christ), from the dead, thou shalt be saved. (V-10) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

When a person receives Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour, He promises that a heavenly peace and joy will come into that life.

Jesus said in John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give I unto you.” This heavenly peace and joy is yours for the asking. The Holy Spirit of God will convict you of your sins and you will have to ACCEPT or REJECT Him.

Why don’t you at this moment acknowledge the existence of God, and His Son and confess your sins to Him. Receive Christ into your heart as your personal Saviour and you will have this gift and hope of eternal life. For the Bible says in John 1:12 “But as many as received Him; to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.”
